Kunstmuseum Bern

(Pablo Picasso)

(Paul Klee)

(Meret Oppenheim)

Verne, the art city that stopped by before heading to Cermatt
Morning on my way to my next destination, Chermat, after a full day in Zurich.
I stopped for a short time because it was a shame to just pass Bern in the middle.
It was such an impromptu addition to the schedule, but now that I think about it, it was a really excellent choice.

As soon as I arrived at Bern station, I put my carrier in the locker,
Bern Cathedral → Perform an efficient and packed route called the Museum of Modern Art!

If you look at it now, there are natural history museums, communication museums, and mountain museums
There is also a slight regret over what it would have been like to stay one more day.
As such, Bern was a city full of intellectual afterglows, full of museums and art galleries.

Bern Museum of Modern Art – Existence beyond its name Kunstmuseum Bern
Directly translated to 'Berne Art Museum' or 'Berne City Art Museum', but I just want to call it 'modern art museum'.
It is one of the oldest art museums in Switzerland,
It boasts a wide collection from the Middle Ages to modern times.

In particular, you can see the flow of European paintings such as modern art, surrealism, and expressionism at a glance
It's a spot you can't miss if you're an art lover.

The Writers I Met – Master Of Modern Painting Familiar names welcome here.

Pablo Picasso
Aesthetics of intense lines and structures and distorted human bodies.
A grand presence by name alone.

Paul Klee
an expressionist painter beloved by Switzerland.
His sense of color and original abstraction are more touching in person.

Meret Oppenheim (Meret Oppenheim)
an icon of surrealism.
A unique sense that brought everyday objects into art.

In addition, there are numerous names decorating European art history, including Marc Chagall, Vasily Kandinsky, Oscar Kokoshka, and Max Ernst.

I don't know much about painting, but a good picture is just good
Actually, I don't even know the 'ㄱ' of the painting. Picasso, Gogh, Monet, Chagall... I'm familiar with the name, but I still don't know why the paintings are so expensive and praised.

To be honest, I just appreciate it based on "I like the color," "I like the feeling," and "I like it." Maybe that's why it's more enjoyable. Because my feelings come first, rather than the meaning that someone evaluated me.

I don't know the work well, but the appreciation was sincere. It was okay without any expertise in art. Looking at the painting, "This is so pretty," "This color combination is so good," and looking at me standing for several minutes, I realized again that art is something that eventually moves my mind.

a walk in Bern's art
It takes about 15 minutes to walk from Bern Station to the Museum of Modern Art.
There is a cathedral in the middle, and the alleyways are beautiful, so the walking path itself was part of the trip.
Like Switzerland, the streets are clean and the direction signs are well-equipped, so you hardly have to worry about getting lost.

After a brief appreciation, I drank a cup of coffee at a small cafe inside the museum. Verne Street, where I sat by a quiet window while reflecting on the lingering effects of the painting, was a moment where city and art permeated together.

This visit to the Bern Museum of Modern Art was a time to reaffirm that 'you don't have to know the painting to appreciate it'.
The moment I stopped in front of the works of world-class masters, it was a day that made me realize that what was more important than interpretation was "feel" and "feel."
