종탑의 야간 종지기(Le Guet)
1405년부터 이어진 전통으로, 종탑 시계는 매일 밤 22시부터 새벽 2시까지 시간을 알립니다.
현재는 최초의 여성 야간 관측원이 활동하고 있으며, 종소리와 함께 로잔의 밤을 지키는 상징이 되었습니다.

Lausanne, Switzerland, is a city located north of Lake Léman (Lake Geneva) and is one of the cultural centers of French-speaking Switzerland. It is also famous for being the city where the headquarters of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) are located, but the biggest reason for visiting Lausanne as a traveler is the superb view of the medieval atmosphere of the old city of Léjan with the combination of Lake Léman and the Alps.
Standing at the center of it, the Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Lausanne and the Escaliers du Marché** are not just tourist destinations, but also paths where you can feel the history and daily life of Lausanne.

Construction period: Construction began in 1170 → Completed in 1235
Style: Pure Gothic (reviewed as the best Gothic architecture in Switzerland)
History of change: Originally built as a Catholic cathedral, it was converted to a Protestant (Reformed Church) Cathedral during the Reformation of the 16th century.
The cathedral, which started around 1170, symbolizes that Lausanne was the center of the bishop's jurisdiction at the time. Since its completion in 1235, it has undergone centuries of major and minor renovations and changes, but the Gothic framework has remained intact.
exterior and artistic elements
On the southern porch of the cathedral, there are elaborately carved biblical figures and angels, including Moses, Jesus, and John the Baptist. There are some traces of color left, giving an impression of the original, colorful exterior from the Middle Ages.
rose stained glass
On the southern wall of the interior, there is a huge rose stained glass measuring 9 m in diameter. Considered a 13th-century Gothic art masterpiece, numerous colors paint the interior of the cathedral whenever a light shines.
The subject contains biblical stories from creation to final judgment, and the details are remarkably delicate.
Great Organ
Established in 2003, the organ was produced by Fiske, U.S., and is Europe's first composite style organ with 6,000 to 7,000 pipes and five manuals. It was designed to digest music from various eras, including the Renaissance, Baroque, and Symphonic.
Le Guet of the Bell Tower
With a tradition dating from 1405, the bell tower clock signals the time every night from 22:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.
The first female night observer is now active, and it has become a symbol of the night of Lausanne with the sound of the bells.

From the cathedral's front yard, you can see downtown Lausanne, Lake Lehman, and the Alps. On a sunny day, you can see the peaks in the direction of Chamonix, France, but the scenery of the quiet old town roofs is attractive enough even on cloudy days.
The Most Beautiful Road in Lausanne – Marche Staircase
Marche Staircase means 'market' in French. It became meaning 'staircase to market' because the market opened in the Middle Ages in the square on the right at the top of the stairs. There is also a record of these steps in 13th-century literature, which was initially a steep hillside in soil and gravel.
