A beautiful city where the past and present coexist, a travelogue in Zurich

Everyone travels through Zurich at least once when traveling to Switzerland. However, many people seem to think of Zurich as simply a transit city or a short stopover. I did the same. On this trip, the Zurich schedule was scheduled for only two days, the day of arrival and the day after that. With the thought of "I'll still be able to see at least the downtown attractions."

But now that I'm back from my trip, Zurich was definitely not enough in a day or two.
Wouldn't it be better to stay for at least two to three days and do nothing for a day, and feel the time of the city blankly at a cafe or Lindenhof Hill.

Zurich, the city itself is art
Of course, other Swiss cities like Bern and Lucerne are fascinating. However, Zurich gives a slightly different impression.
This place has a unique atmosphere in which the past and the present coexist because the city is neat and orderly, but the old buildings remain intact.

It is difficult to find skyscrapers or apartments that are common in large cities in Korea. Most of the tall buildings seen from afar are churches or churches, and the Limat River, which crosses the center of the city, was flowing calmly like a landscape in a painting.

Antique structures are lined up around the river, and in between, people walking leisurely, citizens riding bikes, friends talking over beer by the river... The whole city was submerged in the relaxed air.

Lindenhof Hill, hidden treasure of Zurich
The most impressive place on my trip to Zurich was by far **Lindenhof**. It is the place where Zurich's history began and a small hill overlooking the city at a glance.

It was the site of customs in Roman times, and in 1747, a headstone containing the old name of Zurich called 'Turicum' was excavated here. It is also a historical place where Swiss citizens pledged to join the Union in 1796.

However, when you visit the table, you will be able to feel the ordinary and relaxed scenery first, rather than the historical weight. From people who enjoy playing games at table tennis, senior citizens who play chess leisurely, family members who eat lunch with their children, and friends who enjoy drinking beer in broad daylight... It was just a comfortable, everyday view of the city park.

However, the view of downtown Zurich from the hill is truly unforgettable. The buildings along the Limat River, the spires of a cathedral that can be seen in the distance, and the peace felt on the fresh breezy hill were really difficult to find in Korea. At that time, I thought. Isn't Switzerland's real charm hidden in this moment?

The romance, relaxation, and beauty of the city remained in my mind for a long time, even though I stayed in Zurich for a short time. I'd like to stay in Zurich for at least two to three days and feel the city without any plans if I visit Switzerland again next time. A trip to Zurich would be special and happy enough for me to spend time sitting on Lindenhof Hill with a cup of coffee staring blankly at the river.

A city where the past and present coexist, and a warm landscape created by people's daily lives... Zurich sits at the top of the list of cities I want to go back to.
